well, i was really in tennessee...it's so funny where we live.
we really live in tennessee but, our address is kentucky. funny, huh?
not really?
oh well.
anywho, i dropped the boys off at AWANA tonight and headed to walmart for a little quiet time.
Poppy and Ganny were home with the babies.
one and a half hours all to myself...
and walmart is all i could find???
there aren't many choices here.
but, it did get interesting.
i saw amish kiddos!!!
they were in the sporting goods section looking at the bb's...i think that's what they were looking at.
is it wrong that i took a picture??
(there was a young boy next to her...he had on a straw hat and everything)
i'm very intrigued by the amish folk...
i want to know more about the way they live.
i would love to be a fly on their wall...
if only for a day.
i peeked into the kiddos cart as they walked past (or is it passed?) me...
four cases of canning jars, kotex pads and mouthwash...
i'm surprised they don't make their own mouthwash somehow...
and i've seen homemade menstrual pads on etsy...
i'm surprised they don't make those themselves too.
did i tell you we found an amish farm stand? (in kentucky)
we bought 12 ears of corn for $3.50.
it was the best corn we'd had in a long time!
having corn fields as much of our scenery is proving to be alright if you can buy the yummy corn that they produce! (have i told you yet that when we got here i thought if i never see another corn field i'd be ok??)
we also bought a cantaloupe...
a cantaloupe bigger than your head!!!
it, too, was the best cantaloupe we'd had in a long time!!
can you tell i'm a bit tired?
i'll quit torturing you with my lack of correct puncuation and possibilities of *dangling participles*...
do you know what a *dangling participle* is???
i had no idea...
until my new neighbor filled me in...
she's super smart!!!
she's a chemist...turned stay at home mommy...or momma...she doesn't like being called mommy.
ok, i'm seriously done.
ta ta!
update...this post is getting a LOT of traffic! I know Amish are not ONLY in Kentucky. I guess I was just trying to say that, you know, only in Kentucky...nevermind! :o) I love my new place of living...it's very interesting!

Wow!! Really neat!
I have no idea what a dangling participle is...off to google it now.
I'd totally be looking into their cart, too! And for the record, I live in KY and don't think I've ever seen an Amish here. I thought they all lived in Indiana. :)
One more comment, and I'll leave ya be...this is an awesome blog by a former Amish lady: http://ajoyfulchaos.blogspot.com/ I love her stories!
thanks julee for sharing!
i thought about following ajoyfulchaos...but then thought she might look at my blog and think i was being totally disrespectful...i really wasn't. :o)
You weren't disrespectful at all! :) I think she realizes that people - us! - are curious. She even had a Q&A post once where she answered her readers questions, so she's embraced the fact that people are interested in that culture.
Hi Melissa - just stopped by, wanted to let you know we have many, many Amish and Mennonite people here in Wisconsin...wonderful people. Loved that you took a picture, your funny!
Hahaha!! Girl, you are seriously cracking me up.
Next time you're bored you should call me. Seriously!
