painting the boredom away.

a couple of weeks ago i made a quick run into joann fabrics to kill some time.
i think it was the week of vbs...so i couldn't drive all the way back home and i wasn't working vbs so i couldn't stay there...next best thing?
joann's, of course!

i happened to be in there at a super clearance time and picked up a few ceramic painting kits for 47 cents each.
each kit included the ceramic piece, paints, and a paint brush.
super awesome deal!!!



i originally bought them because the week was going to be rainy.
that week turned into a really busy week and they never even made it out of the bag.




{mckinley's mermaid kit came with four pieces to paint. win!}

the other day the kids were just all over the place.
no activity i suggested was good enough.
until i said "paint."


it wasn't long after mckinley sat down that jonah came walking in asking to paint.





she was so into it.
painting held her attention for more than an hour!!








jonah was getting aggravated with mckinley for bumping the table.
and then jett came in.
and that aggravated jonah even more.
double the table bumping.







jett takes this painting business serious.



it took a lot of self restraint on my part to keep from getting on to them for mixing colors.
and believe you me it bothered me.




once mckinley was finished with her ceramics she moved on to water colors.
i think i have a little artist on my hands.
i predict lots of art in our days alone while brothers are all at school this fall.





overall, $1.41 well spent.
i'll be looking for more of these little kits next time i go into joann's.
if you see them i'm here to tell you...you won't be sorry.

ok, bed time.
the little boys have zoo camp all this week.
gotta get up early.
