no-bake cookies {a recipe and teacher's gift}
these were one of my favorite cookies when i was growing up.
my step-mom made them.
i hadn't had them for years...
until i met my best friend, tera, about ten years ago and she made them.
i slightly remember hearing the choir angels singing.
lalalalalalaaaaaa
and then i knew we were meant to be friends FOREVER!
these cookies are the perfect mixture of peanut butter and cocoa and oats.
they literally melt in your mouth.
and they're SO easy to make!
{grab a helper.}
and when you've made them all up and after they've cooled you can put a few in a cellophane treat bag for gift giving.
add a gift tag and a ribbon {or a scrap of fabric} and you're all set.
i think my boys teachers will be so happy to receive these little gifts first thing in the morning!
here's the recipe...
ingredients
2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
waxed paper
directions
in a heavy saucepan bring to a boil, the sugar, cocoa, butter and milk.
let boil for 1 minute then add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal.
on a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls, until cooled and hardened.
