Walmart and Pampers Give Back to Children's Miracle Network

A couple of years ago I was absolutely thrilled to not be buying diapers any longer. Now, I'm delighted that I have a baby in diapers, and that I buy my diapers at Walmart. And, I love that I love Pampers diapers. Why? Because, Walmart has teamed up with Pampers and is donating to Children's Miracle Network to help kids. In the month of June alone, Walmart and Pampers donated $200,000 to CMN!!

2014 FL Champion-Nathan
Florida — Nathan
UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital
Mitochondrial Disease
Age 6 (as of 11/30/14)

Meet Nathan. “Lively” and “energetic” are common descriptors of any young boy. But Nathan’s spirited demeanor comes from deep within and with help from his hospital, as he was born with a condition that depletes vital energy levels.

Just a few weeks before his first birthday, Nathan was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, a degenerative disorder that attacks the mitochondria — the source that creates enough energy for the body’s systems to sustain function and support growth. Nathan’s seven specialists ensure he stays on track with oxygen supplementation, daily medication and the placement of a gastric stimulator in his stomach — which he refers to as Ironman’s “arc light.”

While his body may not always have the proper energy, Nate’s fun-loving personality stands in stark contrast to his disease. He has no problem keeping up with his two older sisters, he loves playing on his iPad and he is the biggest Gator fan Florida has to offer.

CMN Hospitals dollars helped open the pediatric emergency department, and fully fund child life services and the Arts in Medicine program — all of which support Nathan’s livelihood.

I just can not imagine one of my children having to endure what little Nathan has had to endure in his short life. But, I'm so very thankful to Children's Miracle Network that Nathan is still there for his mommy and daddy to love on him!

Do you have a story to share about Children's Miracle Network? I would LOVE to hear about how they changed a child's life that you know!
